Italy – Sardinia

Sardinia occupies a surface of 23,813 sq. Kms. And is the second lagerst island in Mediterranean Sea (after Sicily). Sardinian natural environment is therefore the largest and most fascinating in all Italy: its low density of population caused, over the century, the preservation of large uninhabitated areas.

The coastline is comparatively regular so that the Island is nearly sandal shapped (in fact it was once called Sandalia): the Gulf of Asinara (in the north) does indeed correspod to the Gulf of Cagliari in the south; and the Gulf of Orosei (east) corresponds to the Gulf of Oristano in the western coast.

Even the two main groups of smaller islands (the Maddalena Archipelago in the north-east and the Sulcis Archipelago in the south-west) both lie off apposite corners of Sardinia, furthermore conferming the existence of a strange symmetry that makes the natural wonders of Sarnian coasts even more mysterious and charming.

Sardinian coasts can really by considered as being the most beautiful in the world, both because they can be reached comfortably and in a short time from all Europe and also because they offer at the same time, high level services and the opportunity to enjoy the sun, the sea and the beach. Beaches that are white, vast, lonely and wild. The Eastern Coast is the best for bathing (in a sea that is nearly always calm in summertime).

Large and high cliffs can be found in the Western Coast, normally full of fish but you can also a high number of huge and lonely beaches: in the winter the mistral wind forms some big dunes behind the sandy shores.

Natural wonders are really many on the coasts of Sardinia with a lot of spots still to be discovered where one can still have a strip of sea for oneself, surrounded only by the silence and the enchantment of a spotless landscape.

And if reaching an island like sardinia can be an extremely charming trip to a tourist, moving from this island to a smaller one is really fantastic: it is therefore delightful to go on an excursion to small, beautiful Sardinian small islands: from La Maddalena e Sulcis Archipelagoes (San Pietro Island) to Molara and Tavolara islands through smaller and less known island, to be reached by boat, such islands are more than ever a realm of silence on the nature of Sardinia sea.

The Sardinia climate is a typically Mediterranean one with mild winters and warm summers. While in autumn good weather lasts until the middle of November, in the springtime it is worm from April.
